The Workshop
A time set apart for those who carry the weight of leading
Shepherding God’s people is one of the most demanding callings there is. You carry the vision, the people, and the burden — often in the same week, sometimes in the same hour. The Leadership Workshop is a place to pause, to be poured into, and to leave stronger than you came.
At this year’s 70th International Church Organization Convocation, the Leadership Workshop welcomes pastors, ministers, deacons, and the church leaders doing the quiet, faithful work of building up the body of Christ. It is built around a simple conviction: the people who lead the church deserve to be led well themselves.
Every session is grounded in the discipline Carl Shawn Watkins has built over 30+ years of developing leaders — courage, clarity, and connection — and speaks directly to the weight of ministry leadership. Not theories from a distant boardroom, but the honest, human work of leading with authority and heart: having the conversation you have been avoiding, trusting the people beside you, and staying faithful when the road is long.
You will leave with encouragement, practical language for the challenges in front of you, and a renewed sense of why the work matters. Copies of Carl’s ministry books — 30-Day Men’s Prayer Journal, Calling All Men… Who Christ Says You Are, and Kingdom Men Rising — will be available at the workshop for ministry leaders.
